A rule for calculating appropriate distance between eye and TV

Technology magazine “Connect” emphasized need for an adequate distance between eyes and TV to avoid eyestrain while viewing.


The German magazine explained that minimum distance between eye and TV is calculated by multiplying screen size by 1.5 for devices with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (UHD),

Multiply by 3 for devices with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD). The product is sitting distance in centimeters.

If diameter of TV screen is 65 inches, distance between eye and screen should not be less than 2.40 meters for Full HD, while this distance should not be less than 1.20 meters with UHD resolution of same size.
