A photo says a thousand words. These photos say 2,000 words. See what I did there? The 2000s were a tumultuous time. The new millennium felt good for about ten seconds when the world didn’t end because of Y2K. Then there were wars, terrorism, economic recessions, and reality TV. However, it wasn’t all doom and gloom. We got iPhones, we watched the Golden Age of television, and we let stars into our homes who we still cherish like members of our own families. Frankly, we cherish some of them more than our own families. These rare photos show people you know now but might not have known way back when. You think you’ve seen everything, but that’s the tip of the iceberg. Check out these rarely seen photos from the early 2000s.

It’s Britney’s tiger, b***h:

Britney Spears performed “I’m a Slave 4 U” at the MTV Video Music Awards, complete with a tiger who was trained and handled by Doc Antle, a trainer featured in the Netflix series Tiger King.

via MTV

No one knew at the time the drama unfolding behind the scenes. No one would utter the name Carol Baskins outside of Florida until decades later. Antle had this to say about Britney: “she was such a darling, totally just a fanatic person wanting a perfect performance… We were there for several days rehearsing so that the tigers would be relaxed and happy to be out there and that everything could be smooth and taken care of as best as possible. She was there rehearsing and working—just the hardest working, sweetest young girl, out there making all the pieces click together.”

Salma Hayek struts her stuff at a Spring/Summer fashion show in Paris, 2001.

Salma Hayek is still one of the hottest people in the world 20 years after this photo was taken. She also took on exciting and innovative films during her long career.

via Pinterest

Here’s what she told In Style about making her movie Frida take off: “I was nominated for an Oscar for my performance in Frida at the time. I had to fight for eight years to get Frida off the ground. Nobody wanted to make a story about a Mexican Communist artist with one eyebrow. It was really hard. But I had a vision for it. And I’m proud that I produced it too. There was no ‘Oh, can I please have a credit?’ No, no, no. I made that sh*t happen.”

Bianca Stratford has her finger on the fashion pulse in ’10 Things I Hate About You’ (1999).

Yes, it’s technically a 90s movie, but this contemporary adaptation of Taming of the Shrew spoke to teens in the early 2000s more than most other movies made for them. Her style ushered in a new decade of fashion.

via Buena Vista Pictures

Though the other side of the fashion coin is depicted Julia Stiles, Bianca defined how most kids were acting and dressing for the decade. She went on to tackle roles in adult dramas like Mad Men, but she’s been an icon ever since she starred in The Secret World of Alex Mack.

Cameron Diaz takes a stand in this photo by Michel Haddi.

The star of The Mask and There’s Something About Mary had a busy couple of years at the beginning of the Millennium. She was an actress and model at the top of her game when this photo was taken.

via Pinterest

She had this to say about the busy start of the 2000s: “I’ve been saying that I’m working for the next two years really hard—that was last year, so it’s been one year already. I have another year and I’m gonna work my ass off and then I’m going to take some time for myself. And I feel good about that because I love what I’m doing right now and I feel like things are opening up for me personally within my work, and it’s stuff that I wanna have fun with and explore – just do it and have a good time.”

Tom Felton (Malfoy) and Emma Watson (Hermione) attend the Scooby-Doo movie premiere in 2002.

What movie series is more iconic in the early 2000s than Harry Potter? Don’t say Fast and Furious even if you are correct. the stars may have played enemies in the movies but here we can see they’re good friends going out on the town together.

via Pinterest

Being part of those most popular series of the decade isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, according to Felton. Here’s what he had to say on the subject: “One thing that people keep on saying to me is that the wealth and the fame must have made up for missing out on my childhood. But the idea of money — putting a price on your childhood — is ridiculous. You will never get those years back and you can’t put a price on them. And to me, fame is not a positive thing. The idea of being famous is a lot better than the reality. It’s fantastic when you go to premieres and people cheer you, but it’s not real. And it’s totally not my approach to get my name on a club door just because I can.”

Forbes Magazine knocks it out of the park by claiming in 2007 that Nokia will be the most popular cell phone.

Move over, Zach Morris phone! there’s a new game in town. It’s the flip phone. Yes, cell phones were getting cooler, smaller, and faster by the year. Forbes called it: Apple has nothing on Nokia phones.

via Forbes

Cut to 10 years later. Apple is valued at a trillion dollars thanks to releasing a new phone every other day or so that makes the phone you just bought obsolete. Good work, Forbes. I miss my BlackBerry too.

Anna Nicole Smith, Courtney Love, and Avril Lavigne at the World Music Awards after-party in 2004.

Music lovers rejoice! It’s a scene you’d only find in the early 2000s! There’s a new rock star, a woman famous for marrying an extremely successful man, and also Anna Nicole Smith. I kid, of course.

via Getty

They look like they’re having a very good time. You can tell the smiles on their faces that this will be a moment to remember. Three women, all with very different levels of success, hanging out and trying to relax with each other. Lavigne had just won “Best Pop/Rock Artist,” Courtney Love had just released a solo album, and Anna Nicole Smith is… there also.

Beyoncé bares a lot during this Pepsi ad shoot in 2003.

The “Pepsi Gladiators” ad was filmed in the actual Roman Coliseum and cost over $3 million to shoot. That’s $2.5 million for Bey and then some money leftover for the rest. I kid, but who knows. Beyoncé was a megastar at this point and the ad paid off.

via Getty

Pepsi made this 3-minute long ad, and it paid off. It was one of the most-watched ads of the year. Way better than the “trick a bunch of normal people into drinking Pepsi while pretending it’s Coke” challenge. That’s not really how it worked, but I’d rather see Bey dressed like Xena than a large man choosing which drink he likes more.

Heath Ledger in 2007 with his daughter Matilda.

Tragically, we all mourned the loss of a great talent when Heath Ledger died. Meanwhile, a little girl lost her father. Matilda is the daughter of Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams.

via Pinterest

Though the two were never married, Heath and Michelle shared a deep bond before the sad loss. Matilda has gotten a lot of attention for how much she resembles her father. Here was a tender moment they shared.

In 2001, Leonardo DiCaprio and Britney Spears partied and threw out a “westside” to the photographer.

When Andy Warhol said we’d all get fifteen minutes of fame, he hadn’t heard about two stars that would remain famous for decades. Here’s a pair of stars chilling with each other and they’re still famous 20 years later.

via Instagram

What brought a pop-star together with an actor who still had yet to take on his finest role (Calvin in Django)? It was probably Titanic. I’m guessing once you’re in the movie Titanic you can call up an agent and say “can I meet Britney?” and she will make that face when she hears you called. Good for them.

Paul Walker and Jessica Alba in the 2005 Action Thriller ‘Into The Blue.’

Sadly, we lost the star of the Fast and the Furious series in 2013. But he left behind some terrific action movies. Into the Blue may have split the critics, but fans loved it.

via MGM

Alba claims that she helped solidify the ending of the film: “In the original script, at the end of the movie, Paul comes and rescues me. I do nothing for the last quarter of the movie. I told the director and said you know I can do action. I’m the most experienced person here. I mean girls don’t really want to see girls get rescued all the time. I came up with all the action scenes at the end and got an action coordinator to cut them together.”

The  VMAs in 2003 get extra spicy when Britney Spears and Madonna kiss.

In what certainly raised a few eyebrows at the time, Madonna, Britney, and Christina appeared on the same stage at the same time and capped off the performance with a passionate make-out session. Christina’s face says they rehearsed it, but who knows? Was it as good as the notorious “wardrobe malfunction” at the Super Bowl? Yes, it was better.

via MTV

That’s not all that happened. Christina got in on the action as well. Was it a ploy to make headlines? Yes. Does that matter? No. It happened. It was glorious. We all talked about it for days after. God bless us, everyone.

Kanye West hits it big and never lets up.

Before Kanye became a household name and one of the biggest rappers of the era, he was a producer, making beats for Jay-Z, and doing a bang-up job. This photo from early in his career shows just how serious he was about making it big.

via MTV

Obama may have called him a jackass for stealing Taylor Swift’s mic at the VMAs, but Kanye earned his fans. He hit it so big, he thought he died in an accident and went to heaven. That’s what Kanye’s life has felt like for decades. No wonder he’s a little odd now.

Lil Kim, Britney Spears, and Mariah Carey all enjoying the photo booth at TRL in 2001.

As any real New Yorker will tell you, Times Square sucks. There are only two reasons to go: one, to see a Broadway show. Two, if you’re a famous musician, you have to go talk to Carson Daly at the MTV studios. Those are the only reasons to go!

via MTV

Total Request Live, if you kids don’t know, was a show on MTV where people requested the best music videos of the day. It was on right after school, and it was an exciting way to start your evening as a latchkey kid while finishing your math homework. It was always a joy to see who showed up.

Pamela Anderson of Baywatch fame and another leaked sex tape talks to Jay Leno in 2002.

After her divorce from Tommy Lee, Pamela Anderson took a breather from show biz to spend more time with her kids. Who would have thought she wouldn’t accept Borat’s offer to marry her. That’s free childcare!

via NBC

Here’s what Pamela had to say about it: “I needed to take a break. Nothing I attempted to do while the boys were growing could get my full attention. I did a lot of short runs. And always wanted to be at home. I wouldn’t miss a baseball game. My kids schedules were in my contracts.”

First day of filming the American version of The Office in 2004.

One of the funniest sitcoms of the 2000s came from the cringe-worthy British original. Yes, they probably knew the show would be a hit, but how could anyone in the cast know how long the journey would last?

via NBC

The goal was to mimic office life. Rather than focus on trying to be likable, the cast decided to be as honest as possible. Jenna Fischer said that she purposefully tried to be as boring as possible when auditioning for Pam. The show is anything but!

Angelina Jolie behind-the-scenes from Tomb Raider shoot.

Angelina Jolie is a superstar in the film world. That’s why people found it strange that she took on the role of Lara Croft, the video game heroine who spelunks while also keeping it tight. Not only were people amazed that she would try a role based on a game, but she was one of the few actors at the time who added a workout regimen and diet specifically to be as fit as someone sprung from the imagination (I’m guessing) of a middle-aged coder. She went for it. It paid off.

via Paramount

Here’s what she had to say: “I got to the Tomb Raider set and the great adventure began. They had me on bunjis. I’m dog sledding. They had me up at seven each morning and handed me a protein shake. Suddenly, a nutritionist was giving me five meals a day. But you had to do these things to maintain your energy. And I liked the intense training because there is only one way to do something and for me it’s in extremes.”

Brad and Angelina adopt an entire mini-van worth of children, 2008.

If you’ve got the money and time, you should try to foster a child or even just sign up for a Big Brother/Big Sister program. The movie star duo took things a step further by adopting a whole bunch of kids together.

via People

I also applied to be a beneficiary of the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie family, but sadly, my application was lost in the mail (I threw the letter over their fence). Good for this power couple for trying to help the world, one child at a time.

Missy Elliott sports a huge trash bag outfit years before it was cool.

I’m not sure it was ever cool. My grandma used to wear one every time it rained in lieu of a poncho. I don’t think that’s what Missy was doing in this photo. The Grammy-winning rapper made interesting fashion choices throughout her storied career.

via Pinterest

Why would a person do this? Because she’s shy, of course: “To me, the outfit was a way to mask my shyness behind all the chaos of the look. Although I am shy, I was never afraid to be a provocative woman. The outfit was a symbol of power. I loved the idea of feeling like a hip-hop Michelin woman. I knew I could have on a blow-up suit and still have people talking. It was bold and different. I’ve always seen myself as an innovator and a creative unlike any other.”

Christina Aguilera sporting something special under her shirt in 2004 that might prove she was the “Dirty” one in a feud she wanted no part of.

Were you team Christina or team Britney? There can be only one! Just kidding. Both women denied having any beef with each other. Why would they? They both had big bank accounts and big… personalities to boot. I’m glad they get along. But I do have the feeling which one was the bad bitch based strictly on this photo.

via Pinterest

Here’s what Christina had to say: “It’s hard to hear yourself being called names. I remember being hurt by these commercials on MTV, pitting Britney as the good girl and me as the bad girl. It’s like, if I’m going to be demure and innocent, that’s okay. But if I’m going to just be myself, I’m trouble.”

Paris Hilton eats a popsicle in Los Angeles in 2004.

The first decade of the millennium belonged to Paris Hilton. Did she earn it? Did she even earn… money? Her sex tape was leaked by an ex-boyfriend and she eventually sued for a portion of the profits. I, for one, have only been promised to be paid in exposure for mine. We’ll see.

Here’s what she had to say about her financial worries: “I never made a dollar. I make enough money in nice ways. My fragrance makes enough, I don’t need to worry about that.”

Beyoncé takes a walk with her new bodyguard in 2004.

Even fans of Destiny’s Child could not have predicted how far Beyoncé would go. Long before Lemonade, the singer was rising in the music world so fast, she needed to pay someone to look out for her.

via Pinterest

She told Rolling Stone this about her unimaginable fame and how she stayed popular:  This is not something anybody planned for me. I had the help of my family, I don’t do it all by myself, but I write my songs, I write my treatments, I help with my clothes. Anybody who, every time they’re seen they’re right — it’s not other people. You can’t be that consistent without the artist being involved.”

Adriana Lima sets record for most appearances on the cover of GQ Magazine.

If you recognize this model, you’ve probably walked past the magazine section of the supermarket often. Lima has appeared countless times on the cover of GQ and was once listed by Forbes as the 4th-highest-earning model of the year.

via Pinterest

Lima posed for magazines, Fendi, Maybelline, you name it. She’s one of the best models to ever do it, and the early 2000s brought her into the Lima-light. You see what I did there?

Victoria’s Secret model Doutzen Kroes takes an early casting photo in 2003.

Wow. An 18-year-old model from Amsterdam was about to take the world by storm, and this casting polaroid shows why. She looks like she’s not even ready to have her photo taken, and still, she looks gorgeous.

via Pinterest

Kroes fell into modeling accidentally when some photos of her were sent to an agency. Before that she spent her days biking and caring for her horses at her rural home. Fate stepped in.

Brittany Murphy smiles big for movie lovers everywhere.

Sadly, we lost Brittany Murphy to pneumonia at the young age of 32. The star of Clueless and 8 Mile stole the screen in every scene.

via Pinterest

Though she never reached the heights of her early work, she spent the first decade of the 2000s hammering out a movie a year until her tragic death in 2009.

Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton together on a beach in Sydney, Australia in 2006.

Before Kim had her own leaked-sex-tape-turned-professional-career, she was Paris Hilton’s good friend and occasional paid assistant! Here they are in a less professional setting, and clearly getting a lot of attention even when abroad.

via reddit

Here’s what Kim said about mixing business and pleasure with Paris: “I would work with Paris, and I would love to organize and clean out their closets and get rid of all their stuff and sell it on eBay and then shop for them, shop for her. That was my job. I loved it.”

Brad Pitt shares a moment with his wife Jennifer Anniston before breaking her heart soon after and leaving her for Angelina Jolie.

Two of the hottest stars of the 90s were wed, and America couldn’t look away. Then, it all started to fall apart and then America REALLY couldn’t look away. It was like a car crash. A car crash that we all kept hearing about but never actually seeing. Rumors that Brad Pitt was sneaking around with Angelina Jolie while on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005) seemed to be the stuff of tabloid misinformation. Later, however, we all saw the truth.

via Pinterest

To quell the rumors that Brad was hooking up with Angelina behind Jen’s back, they released this statement: “For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media. This decision is the result of much thoughtful consideration. We happily remain committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for one another.” Brad later married Angelina Jolie.

Kobe Bryant and his future wife, Vanessa Laine, at the start of a rocky but enduring marriage:

Sadly, we lost Kobe in 2o20. The Lakers brought home the win this season from the Disneyworld bubble, and hopefully, somewhere in the universe, Kobe felt elated for his team once again. Before his tragic death in a helicopter crash, before he dropped 60 points during the final game of his career, and before his infidelity and subsequent court case that nearly destroyed his career, he met his fiancée at a music video shoot.Vanessa Laine was only 18-years-old when Kobe proposed. After winning his first NBA championship, Kobe whisked Vanessa away (skipping her high school prom) to Italy to celebrate. This photo captures their young love before tragedy struck.

Mike Tyson Gets a surprisingly cool face tattoo.

In 2003, Mike Tyson changed the face of boxing. Literally. He was the boxing world for a long time. After he served a six-year prison sentence, Tyson returned to boxing, and in 2003 decided he hated himself so much he wanted to cover his visage with a new one. The tattoo artist instead suggested a cool-as-hell Maori tribal symbol.

via Pinterest

People in the early 2000s lost their minds, but I assume there’s a whole generation of people who know Tyson as the retired boxer with the cool tribal tattoo on his face, and not the convicted rapist who bit a dude’s ear off in the ring. To each their own. Here’s what Tyson says about it: “It looks awesome. That tattoo is me. Sometimes I see people with tattoos on their face and I’m like: ‘Woah, this guy is crazy!’ I forget that I’ve got one on my face.”

Kendall and Kylie Jenner dress for Halloween in 2000.

Before we were invited into their home for hours at a time on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kylie and Kendall were two normal girls. Two normal girls whose father was a lawyer in the crime of the century. Here they are before it all began.

via Pinterest

Kendall claims she wasn’t popular as a child and it upset her: “I was sitting in my room a lot of days crying because Kylie had so many friends, and I didn’t know what to do, and it’s gonna make me emotional right now. I really was like, ‘I’m never gonna have friends.’” Now she has all the friends. Staring at her from afar as she mopes around the house with her family.

Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore party in NYC before the premiere of yet another Charlie’s Angels movie in 2003.

A reboot of an action-packed TV series about hot women solving crimes? Sign me up. As if the movie weren’t fun enough, the cast showed that they were having fun on and off the set. Here’s what Drew had to say about being in the series: “It’s not often that a girl gets the chance to produce an amazing high octane franchise. That’s a lot of pressure, because there’s a lot of money, but you also get to make stories where girls get to kick ass yet support each other, and love each other, and want to laugh with each other, and want to go on dates at night and then talk about the dates while they’re in the middle of everything else. They’re just girls with a great capacity for fun and a wicked sense of humor. And to live in that world for five years straight was really a blessed thing for me.”

Keanu Reeves relaxes somewhere in France in 2003.

Not really sure where he is. Could be anywhere, honestly. Keanu had a rigorous shooting schedule for The Matrix movies, and he needed to take a break somewhere. If only there were some recognizable landmark to show where this photo was taken.

via reddit

Reeves revealed his arduous schedule and why he needed a break: “Before, we fought one at a time, and I know that they want me to do five. Which is master. That’s the real deal. If you can fight five people, that’s Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee stuff. So you need a whole other technique for that. You need a whole other level of proficiency, to be able to film close to real time and to be consistent and to have power on blows and to sell the punches.”

Mariah Carey apparently has a second bathroom strictly for Hello Kitty memorabilia.

Pop star Mariah Carey posed for this photo to show her love for Hello Kitty. Clearly, the bathroom is semi-functional since you can see her toothbrush in the background. How she showers, however, we may never know. Her love for the Hello Kitty brand has surpassed her need for this bathtub.

via reddit

Mariah Carey lives in NYC where you can rent a bathtub-sized apartment for $4,000/month. This photo is the essence of luxury because no one else in the city has the ability to use space this way. She did it in a penthouse apartment no less.

Real romance sparks for ‘Notebook’ couple in 2008.

Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling played lovers in The Notebook, and it wasn’t long before they started a real romance of their own. Actors can’t spend that much time pretending to be in love before they start dating and pretending to be in love in real life!

via Reddit

Sadly, the love did not last, but through no real fault of their own. As Gosling said in an interview: “Show business is the bad guy. When both people are in show business it’s too much show business. It takes all of the light, so nothing else can grow.”

Megan Fox wows the world with her bikini body.

The star of Transformers and Jennifer’s Body shows why she quickly became known as one of the hottest actresses in the early 2000s.

via reddit

Yes, she played the title role in a horror movie about her body, but why wouldn’t her body be the subject of an entire film? Does she still got it now? Ask her 9 million Instagram followers and Machine Gun Kelly. They agree. She does.

Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey enjoying a birthday celebration while filming ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ (2003).

Charlie Kaufman and Michel Gondrey teamed up for one of the best films of the decade, and their stars seemed to love the film. Here Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey take a break from shooting the drama about erasing memories of their exes.

via reddit

Winslet claims that her role in this film helped her land more serious roles in the future: “I think creatively it opened people’s eyes to other sides of myself as a performer. I think that perhaps if it hadn’t been for that, maybe I wouldn’t necessarily have been considered for something like The Reader. I was able to show my versatility in Eternal Sunshine, and versatility obviously expands in all kinds of different directions.”

Kylie and Kendall Jenner at the Keeping Up With The Kardashians viewing party, 2007.

Wow. Were we ever so young? No one knew what a smash the reality show would be. And I’m certain these two had no idea what was coming in their future. Or maybe they did. The rich are different. They might have been told from the start their lives were going to be filled with glamor and a lot of cameras.

via reddit

A few billion dollars later, and audiences are still watching the two grow up. We will likely keep watching them for a long while until, of course, the imminent peasant revolution.

Scarjo shows off a new tattoo in Paris in 2012.

Before we all felt the warm embrace of the Avengers movies, Scarlett Johansson was an indie movie darling and quickly becoming a household name. Here she is getting some new ink. We’re all lucky to get to see it.

via reddit

Sophia Coppola saw something in the actress as early as her role in Ghost World: “She had that husky voice even then and seemed mature beyond her years. There was some quality about her that stood out and I connected with. She’s able to convey a lot without saying anything. I had a feeling about her. I wasn’t surprised she went on to do lots of different things after but I’m surprised when I look back at how young she was. She was only 17.”

Two of the Wayans Brothers at the ‘Scary Movie’ premiere in 2000.

Can you name these two members of the Wayans comedy family? There are ten of them. Ten! This is, you probably know, Shawn and Marlon. The funny duo had their hands in countless movies and had their own TV sitcom.

via reddit

So much talent in one family! Anna Faris was nervous to star in the first Scary Movie, but shared this advice from Keenen: “Keenen told me two amazing bits of advice. One was that there’s no vanity in comedy, and two, don’t wink at the audience. You have to be willing to embrace the idea that the audience is going to think you’re an idiot. That was an important lesson to me.”

Jessica Alba catches some much-needed Zzzs and some sun rays in Miami.

Jessica Alba used to wake up every morning at 5 AM to get to the set of Dark Angel. It makes sense that she would need to catch up on her beauty rest. Good for her for killing two birds with one stone.

via reddit

Here are some words of inspiration from the movie star: “I’m really lucky. It’s hard work and you don’t realize you can do it, until you do it. All of a sudden you’re in your fourth episode and you don’t know how you got here and how you got through the pages and pages of dialogue that you don’t even remember.”

Lindsay Lohan, at age 24, under house arrest.

The Mean Girls and Parent Trap star Lindsay Lohan had a tougher start to the Willennium than most (remember that Will Smith album Willennium. You don’t? I’m old). Lindsay plead no-contest to accusations that she stole a $2,500 necklace. As a result she was forced to stay home or face jail time. Sounds like a sweet deal to me, actually. Here she is relaxing with a not-so-fashionable anklet.

via reddit

Lindsay may have fallen from grace after her start as a Disney star, but she did her time and ended up distracting the public from her troubles with the law by starring in Liz & Dick (2012) and The Canyons (2013), two of the absolute worst movies ever made. Just terrible. Can’t even remember what happened before those two as a result so good job, Lindsay!

Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz lounging on the set of the coke-smuggling thriller Blow (2001).

Whether you love cocaine or REALLY love cocaine, Blow is an exciting movie. The standard crime-drama-bio-pic is lifted to new heights because of the chemistry between Depp and an actress known well in Spain but not yet in the US, Penelope Cruz.

via reddit

Cruz learned as many English phrases as she could and had this to say about working on the film: “Then after I worked with him on Blow, I learned how to say, ‘I want to work with Johnny Depp again!’ He’s very addictive and he just gets better and better over the years.”

Professional Skateboarder Jason Dill doesn’t realize he’s documenting history during hungover walk.

“Professional skateboarder” (that is to say, a person who makes money skateboarding) is not something I believe my grandparents saw coming. They also probably had no idea what was going to happen on September 11th, 2001, a day that is forever branded on the memories of people who lived through it.

via Tumblr

Jason Dill and his friend Mike were taking a walk through Manhattan after a long night of drinking. Mike took this photo at the exact moment 19 hijackers changed the world forever. They had no idea what they were really seeing at the moment or how to react.

Tyra Banks shows why she’s on top long before America’s Next Top Model.

Tyra Banks was signed to her first modeling agency in 1990. Thus began an illustrious career as one of the biggest names in modeling. A decade in, she was modeling lingerie, starring in movies, and then eventually hosting one of the best reality competition shows of all time.

via reddit

She’s come a long way from her first shoot for Seventeen Magazine all those years ago. This photo shows how fierce she could be.

Jim Carrey’s makeup on How The Grinch Stole Christmas took hours to complete, and Carrey ruined it so often, the makeup director needed therapy.

We all love Jim Carrey. Even when he’s in a bad place. Several movies include blooper reels that make it seem like he’s always “on” during shoots. His brunch with a Dr. Seuss legend, however, didn’t sound fun for anyone.

via Universal Pictures

Here’s what makeup artist Kazuhiro Tsuji had to say about working with Carrey: “On set, [Carrey] was really mean to everybody and at the beginning of the production they couldn’t finish. After two weeks we only could finish three days’ worth of shooting schedule, because suddenly he would just disappear and when he came back, everything was ripped apart. We couldn’t shoot anything.” He stepped away from shooting for a few weeks before returning to finish the film.

Lebron James watches his second-favorite sport: pro wrestling.

Lebron James holding a flip phone is very 2003. He attended Monday Night Raw and clearly wanted to remember the moment. As a lifelong Cleveland Cavs fan, nothing brings me more joy than knowing this kid would bring a championship title to my hometown.

via USA

Before he had a championship of his own to pose with, Lebron posed with a WWE championship belt and released his own Nikes inspired by Ric Flair. A true fan of sports of all kinds.

Halle Berry reveals a lot in Swordfish (2001).

Is Swordfish a great movie? I don’t know if that question has ever been asked by anyone who isn’t a salaried film critic forced to watch it. Everyone else is in the same boat, asking “how good did Halle Berry look?” And the answer is great. She did a nude scene in this cyberterrorism thriller and I literally don’t remember anything else that happened in the film. Travolta is in it, I think? Who cares? Here’s what Berry had to say about it: “So much of my life I was afraid to [do a nude scene]. With the success of my Dorothy Dandridge project and the critical acclaim that brought me, I finally felt that I didn’t have to prove myself anymore.”

Heath Ledger on the set of The Dark Knight in 2008.

Tragically, we lost Heath Ledger before he could see how comic book fans and average movie-goers alike praised his performance as The Joker. His bizarre, frightening, and funny moments came to life because he took the role as seriously as possible.

via Warner Bros.

Here’s what his costar Christian Bale had to say about working with him: “Our first scene was in an interrogation room together, and I saw that he’s a helluva actor who’s completely committed to it and totally gets the tone that Chris [Nolan] is trying to create with this. We’re not going for actors revealing their enjoyment of playing a wacky caricature. We’re treating this as serious drama. You go into character and you stay in the character. I love that. I find that so ridiculous that I love it, and I take that very seriously. Heath was definitely embracing that. When he was in the makeup and the garb he was in character the whole time; and when he took it off he was absolutely fantastic company to be around.”
