Volkswagen has unveiled an allnew car for 2022, which will be named Volkswagen Taos. The new car, which targets the American market directly, falls under the Volkswagen Tiguan in the Volkswagen Group, in the bestselling category in the automotive sector in the United States, namely the compact SUV, which has a volume of about 4 million cars per year, or about 24 in Percent of the market size. The goal is to offer a competitive, compact but high value vehicle with a bold design and advanced features.
The Volkswagen personality is evident in the exterior design of the new Volkswagen Taos, with a strong front fascia and distinctive LED lighting reminiscent of the Atlas Cross Sport model. The stern resembles the Volkswagen family with its distinctive lights, while the square wheel arches feature on the sides. The new car will be available in eight different colors, in line with the four wheel designs available, measuring 17 inches as standard, or optional in 18 or 19 inches, and Volkswagen Taos is available with an optional panoramic sunroof.
Dimensions, the Volkswagen Taos is somewhere in the middle of a compact SUV, not like the Tiguan, which is among the largest in the compact SUV. With a length of 4465 millimeters, the Tiguan is about 236 millimeters short, with a wheelbase of 2,690 millimeters, which provides excellent space for passengers inside, with a width of 1,842 millimeters.
Inside, the Volkswagen Taos features a modern design and a highquality interior. The dashboard features clean lines with an emphasis on horizontal design. There is a clear separation between the center touch screen and the A / C control buttons, so the top of the dashboard seamlessly blends into the design of the doors and handles. The seats are available as standard in two colors, either the standard cloth seats or the optional leather seats.
As for the comfort systems and equipment, it includes automatic headlights, pushbutton start, and keyless entry and door opening. The Volkswagen Taos is also equipped with an electric driver’s seat that moves in eight directions, a twozone climate control system, rainsensing wipers, a heated leather steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated side mirrors.
As for electronic equipment, specifically communication and entertainment, the new Volkswagen Taos offers the latest in communication, information and entertainment technology from Volkswagen. A Volkswagen digital adjustable instrument cluster is standard, with a WiFi hotspot enabled from inside the vehicle. The MIB3 infotainment system is also available with wireless charging, a wireless application for compatible devices, a satellite radio system, and of course a navigation system, with an 8inch touch screen with voice control. An optional 8speaker sound system from BeatsAudio.
In terms of driving and driver assistance systems, IQ.Drive range of driver assistance technology is available on every Volkswagen Taos model, which offers forward collision warning with selfbraking, Active Blind Spot Monitor, Lane Keep Assist, and Control Stopandgo engine operation, and park distance control.
In terms of engines, the car is initially available with a 1.5liter turbocharged fourcylinder engine that generates 158 hp and 250 Nm of torque and provides a number of hightech features designed to help save fuel in an impressive way.
The engine is mated to an eightspeed automatic transmission in the frontwheel drive model, while models equipped with the 4Motion allwheel drive system get a dualautomatic transmission, that is, with a clutch, of seven speeds.
Volkswagen Taos will be available in the US market in the summer of 2021, and the company has not yet announced its availability in global markets, but given the popularity of these cars around the world, we may see them in the middle of next year in our markets.
